Everyone knows how to taste. However, when it comes to wine, there are a few essential steps we need to follow to ensure maximum pleasure.
The art of chewing wine
Roll the wine all around your mouth, almost as if you were chewing it, to produce more saliva and stimulate the different areas of the tongue: the tip is sensitive to sweetness; the sides and underneath to acidity and saltiness; while the back is sensitive to bitterness.
Take in a little air
When you take a sip of wine, your tongue detects the flavours while your nose captures the aromas. This explains why if you eat a strawberry while blindfolded and holding your nose, you will find it difficult to work out what it is. To increase exchanges between the nose and mouth through the connecting airway, it is useful to breathe in a small amount of air. This will help you to detect the aromas more clearly.
