STEP 1: CHOOSING THE RIGHT GLASS

The wine glass plays an essential role in tasting. Beyond the sparkling elegance it adds to your table, it can even change your perception of a wine.

Transparency

The glass must be completely transparent, seeming almost to disappear when filled with wine. Coloured and decorative glasses may look attractive, but they make it more difficult for us to appreciate a wine's colour. Kwarx® glasses now offer an unparalleled level of transparency.

Avoid narrow glasses

Glasses holding more than 30 cl have become very popular for both red and white wines. The increased contact area with the air encourages the expression of aromas.

What is the right shape?

We know that the design of a glass can enhance the bouquet and direct the wine to a specific area of the tongue to accentuate a flavour. If the top of the glass is narrow, we tend to tilt our head back to sip the wine. We then taste it first on the back of the tongue, emphasising the impression of acidity. Fortunately there are specific designs for red wines, white wines, young wines, as well as excellent "universal" glasses which can be used for any type of tasting.
